Girls Development Squad at Tournament
09/07/2014

The younger girls development team took on the Melbourne Tigers tournament and produced some great results, Kellie Sewell coached the girls on the weekend and sent us in this report:

The squad consisting of Liana, Annabelle, Emily, Lily, Georgia, Samantha, Olivia and Kate competed in their second tournament for the year.  This group of girls are all bottom, bottom age U12 girls and although they don’t play together regularly as a team, they train every Friday night in the large Waverley Falcons Development Squad.  The development squad is coached by Falcons girls 12.1 coach Scott Gunther and assisted by Kellie Sewell and Tania Gunther.

The girls played 4 games on Saturday, winning 2 games comfortably and being very competitive in their 2 losses.  Although they were exhausted Saturday night, after a good nights sleep, they turned up Sunday morning ready to play, winning their consolation final easily to finish 3rd.

The girls improved in all areas of their game and their team work and support for each other was particularly mature.  As most coaches know you can’t teach a player determination.   The natural tenacity that these girls showed in all games is a great sign for the Falcons!!

Many thanks to the Newport family for acting as team manager all weekend.  A special thanks to all parents for their support of the Development program.
