Under 16.3 Boys Win Thriller!
03/02/2014

It was a Grand Final for the ages as the 16.3 Boys stole a last second victory. Coach Kelly Rankin sent us this report of a great weekend with an exciting conclusion:

Our u16.3 boys played in and won the u16B/C SE section in the Eltham tournament.

We won 4 of our 6 games finishing 2nd over all.

We played Eltham in the Semi Final and won, taking us to the Grandfinal where we played Kilsyth 3, who were at that point undefeated!

It was a very tough game and Kilsyth took the lead against us forcing us to fight back in the second half. The boys kept their focus and heads in the game and fought hard to take the lead with only minutes to go.

Kilsyth got back in front and with about 15 seconds left on the clock we were 32-31 down. A strong drive drew the foul to get 2 shots… 1st one missed and the second one dropped to draw the game!! With strict instructions to not let that ball over the half court, the boys turned the pressure up, and got a steal of the inbound pass! A shot was put up to try and draw a foul, but no basket and no foul… but we did get the rebound and with 2 seconds on the clock we scored the final goal winning us the game 32-34!

All 9 players played extremely well over the weekend, and all contributed significantly. We finally came together as a team and learnt more with each of the 8 games.

All the parents and myself are extremely proud of the boys efforts and look forward to building on the weekend as we go through the rest of the season.
