|   Waverley's Mark Sainsbery has recently returned from the Under 18 National Championships in Tasmania where he was Team Manager for the Vic Metro Men's Team who won the Silver Medal. In a close encounter in front of a jam packed crowd at the Ulverstone Stadium, the Vics were narrowly defeated 50 - 45 to claim the Silver Medal. The Vic Metro Women's Team went one better to claim the Gold Medal in their game against South Australia Metro.   Championship Results for the Vic Metro Men's Team were;   Vic Metro defeated South Australia Country (95 - 34) Vic Metro defeated New South Wales Country (73 - 71) Vic Metro defeated Queensland South (70 - 66) Vic Metro defeated Western Australia Country (88 - 50) Vic Metro defeated New Zealand (81 - 43) Vic Metro defeated Australian Capital Territory (67 - 32) Vic Metro defeated South Australia Metro (73 - 57) Semi Final Game Vic Metro defeated by New South Wales Metro (50 - 45) Gold Medal Playoff Game   Three Waverley junior players Zach Rose, Callum Taylor and Eva Nikolitsis made it to the final 20 places in which the selected teams were chosen from which was a great achievement. As part of the state selection process, Zach, Callum and Eva travelled to Sydney in January to play in the East Coast Challenge. |
