Falcons Win Big V Awards

The 2014 Big V Awards Night proved a successful one for the Falcons with the club taking out a number of club based and inidividual awards.

The night started well for the Falcons with the club winning the award for Best Community Engagement. This award recignises the great work by Waverley who have taken the lead in a number of areas within the community. The work extends from Waverley's involvement with Melbourne's Sudanese community, to leading the way with live bradcasting of games through the FalconsTV program.

The Victorian Youth Championship Men trophy was also awarding to Waverley, the Youth Men scored a convincing win over Kilsyth in this year's VYCM Grand Final.

Waverley figured consistently in the individual awards as well. SCM Forward Ivan Platenik, SCW Forward Tegan Cunningham and VYCM big man Matt McCarthy all scored positions in their respective league's All Star 5s.

Fan favourite and SCM Point Guard Sedale Threatt Jnr was awarded the Golden Hands award, once again establishing Sedale as the premier guard in the competition.

After a restful few weeks, the Falcons Big V campaign for 2015 is starting to heat up. The Big V Coaches for next season were announced last week, and we are now just a month away from the open try-out sessions for both men and women.
