Big V Teams Run to Finals

With just seven rounds of the Big V regular season remaining for the State Championship teams and six rounds for the Vic Youth Championship teams, the Falcons Big V program looks set for more finals action this season.

The State Championship Men and Women both occupy finals positions on the ladder as we swing into the last stretch of the season.

The Men are caught in a three way battle with Corio Bay and Ringwood for the top two positions, and subsquent free pass to the second round of finals. A third place finish will see them in an immediate sudden death playoff against whoever finished sixth.

The Women are also jostling for position with the SCW top four. smaller finals setup means first plays fourth and second plays third in a three game series. The other teams vying for spots in the four are Ringwood, McKinnon and Hume City, with Bulleen snapping at their heals in fifth.

After an inconsistent start, the Youth Men now find themselves right in the mix for a finals spot in the two-conference VYC system. The Falcons have risen to third in their conference with six games to play.

The Youth Women sit just outside the top four in their conference, in fifth place. With enough games in hand to make one last run at a finals berth, the Falcons pushed division leading Knox to the brink last week, showing they can't be counted out just yet.

The Queen's Birthday weekend is the last bit of respite for the Big V teams before the mad dash to the finish line begins. There is plenty of action to come at the Falcons Nest continuing from Saturday, June 14. Continue to check www.waverleybasketball.com or www.bigv.com.au for the latest news and fixtures.
