The TREV Inter Varsity Basketball Tournament, to be held at Waverley Basketball Stadium (Batesford Rd, Chadstone) on Friday 30th May 2014 will be the biggest TREV (Tertiary Recreation Entertainment Victoria) event of the year with a 16 team men’s competition as well as a mixed competition at the 6 court venue.
This years tournament will see Universities, TAFE’s and Institutes across Victoria competing in this lead up tournament to the Southern University Games held later in the year in Wodonga. The tournament has been a collaboration of efforts from the Diploma for Sport and Events students currently studying at Box Hill Institute. Now in its fifth year, this annual tournament has seen students raising the bar through the development of their vocational skills and training. Over five hundred students are expected from across Victoria and will be in attendance as players, officials and fans.
The event will also utilise Waverley Basketball’s fantastic facilities and technological innovations including live streaming of all tournament games, online competition updates including points scores, play by play and top scorers. No more scribbling and trying to decipher team managers writing.
Waverley Basketball uses Jamware online for their technology systems which includes their website, filtering, ladders, team sheets, Victoria’s first digital score benches and the Jamware TV service. The newest addition to the Jamware Technology is Jamware TV. Waverley Basketball Stadium is currently the only stadium in Victoria to offer this product, where teams can register to view their games online, and even purchase downloads of game footage. These wide range of services make Waverley Victoria’s first and only truly digital Basketball stadium.
The day will also have a gourmet bbq, coffee van, events and competitions to be run throughout the day with prizes and giveaways to be won. We are expecting a huge turnout this year with local MP’s and sporting personalities on the invite list.
