It was a weekend which produced a range of results for the 14.6 Boys, but when it mattered most, the boys cane up with the goods, with a quality Grand Final win. Team Manager Melinda Wildie sent us this report from the weekend:
Congratulations to the boys of the Under 14/6 team and their coach, Bryce Morten.
They are the proud Reserve Grand Final Winners of their section in the Eltham/Dandenong Junior Tournament.
After playing 6 tightly contested games, some wins, some losses and a draw, they were ecstatic to just scape through to make the Semi-Finals, and even more so to wind up in the Reserve Grand Final.
They played a great game and it was an awesome effort by every member of the team.
In a low scoring first half, the boys defensive play was at its best and as the game progressed so did their strength and determination and a hint of belief that a win was possible.
They blitzed over the line, defeating Darebin by 11 points. Congratulations to Fibi, who was awarded MVP and also a huge thanks to the organizers of the tournament , Waverley team and volunteers who made the tournament run so smoothly.
It will go down as one of the boys highlights of the year, that's for sure.
