THe Under 16.6 Boys, Coached by Mark Handley, performed extremely well over the weekend, progressing all the way through to the Grand Final which went right down to the wire. Mark was kind enough to put together this fantastic report of all the weekend's action:
Game 1
The Falcons 16 Sixes Emerges Victorious Against Ringwood 5. Will Soutter scored 10 points to bring Falcons to a 25-21 victory over Ringwood 5 on Friday night. Making 83% (5-for-6) of shots from the field, Will Soutter had a solid performance on the court. Also racking up points for Falcons were Hayden Handley (7 points), Joseph Koocheek (4), Nick Scott (2) and Lachlan McCaffrey (2).
Game 2
The Falcons 16 Sixes fell to Warrandyte 4 on Friday, 29-27, despite Joseph Koocheek putting 11 points on the scoreboard. Going 5-for-9, Joseph Koocheek had a solid showing for the Falcons 16 Sixes, making 56% of field goals attempted. Also racking up points for the Falcons 16 Sixes were Will Soutter (4 points), Aram Kose (4), Hayden Handley (4), Lachlan Robertson (2) and Spencer Spielvogel (2).
Game 3
The Falcons 16 Sixes were victorious against Oakleigh 3 29-20 on Saturday with the help of Joseph Koocheek, who scored 10 points. Joseph Koocheek was on the ball for the Falcons 16 Sixes, making 60% (3-for-5) of shots attempted and hitting 57% (4-for-7) of free throws attempted. Also putting points on the board for the Falcons 16 Sixes were Hayden Handley (7 points), Will Soutter (4), Spencer Spielvogel (2), Aram Kose (2) and Lachlan McCaffrey (2).
Game 4
The Falcons 16 Sixes defeat Eltham 6, Hayden Handley scored 18 points to lead the Falcons 16 Sixes to a 32-21 victory over Eltham 6 on Saturday. Hayden Handley led the Falcons 16 Sixes's offense, going 9-for-10 (90%) from the field. Also putting points on the board for the Falcons 16 Sixes were Joseph Koocheek (4 points), Spielvogel (4), Aram Kose (4) and Ashley Wollaston (2).
Game 5
Hayden Handley scored seven points to lead the Falcons 16 Sixes to a 22-21 victory over Waverley 5 on Sunday. The Falcons 16 Sixes grabbed the lead against Waverley 5 on a two-pointer from Handley and held on. Hayden Handley found success all over the court for the Falcons 16 Sixes, making 40% (2-for-5) of shots attempted while also sinking 75% (3-for-4) of free throws attempted. Also putting points on the board for the Falcons 16 Sixes were Will Soutter (6 points), Aram Kose (5) and Joseph Koocheek (2).
Game 6
The Falcons 16 Sixes won 35-23 against Ringwood 6 on Sunday with the help of Will Soutter, who scored nine points. The Falcons 16 Sixes pulled ahead early, Will Soutter was on the ball from the field, making 50% (3-for-6) of shots attempted. Also putting points on the board for the Falcons 16 Sixes were Hayden Handley (9 points), Spencer Spielvogel (8), Joseph Koocheek (6) and Lachlan Robertson (3).
Semi-Final
Will Soutter scored eight points to bring the Falcons 16 Sixes to a 33-18 victory over Eltham 6 on Monday. The Falcons 16 Sixes put points on the board early, claiming a 33-18 lead at the half.
Will Soutter shot well from the field for the Falcons 16 Sixes, making 43% (3-for-7) of shots attempted. Also sinking shots for the Falcons 16 Sixes were Hayden Handley (7 points), Aram Kose (6), Joseph Koocheek (4), Lachlan Robertson (2), Jackson Eyres (2) and Spencer Spielvogel (2).
Grand Final
The Falcons 16 Sixes Fall Short Against Ringwood 6. Although Joseph Koocheek put 21 points on the scoreboard, the Falcons 16 Sixes fell to Ringwood 6 41-40. Joseph Koocheek set the pace for the Falcons 16 Sixes's offense, going 9-for-14 (64%) from the field. Also putting points on the board for the Falcons 16 Sixes were Spencer Spielvogel (7 points), Aram Kose (6), Will Soutter (4) and Hayden Handley (2). Hayden Handley overall performance earn him the MVP award as voted by the referees.
