Eltham-Dandenong Tournament

Junior Falcons teams will have a busy weekend this Australia Day with the Eltham-Dandenong Tournament once again taking over Melbourne's Basketball scene.

As this is a new experience for many families, and a busy time for teams, below are some quick points which will hopefully answer questions for Coaches, Team Managers and Parents.

  • Some teams may have already seen a draft fixture for their games this weekend. Please be aware that these fixtures are still drafts and changes can, and in a few cases already have been made. Where there are changes, teams will be advised directly, but to avoid any misunderstandings, please ensure all members in your team check the fixture on the tournament website when they go live later this week, and not rely on the initial draft fixtures.

  • If your team is playing Ringwood or Dandenong (or a couple of other small clubs that wear green), you may be required to change singlets. If your game is at Waverley, you can borrow a set of yellow singlets from the canteen and return immediately after the game for no charge. If you game is elsewhere, please contact Andrew at the WBA Office (9807 9814, andrew.kelly@waverleybasketball.com) to arrange the use of an alternate set. As we have a limited amount of alternate sets, teams may be required to share sets over the weekend, in which cases uniforms will need to be washed and passed on to another team. All alternate uniforms need to be returned to the WBA office in full early next week.

  • If you have new or fill in players in your teams for the weekend, we may not always be able to provide a spare top. Each team is issued 10 tops at the start of the season and you are only allowed to play 10 players in each game, so please wherever possible arrange the sharing of tops within your team. In case of an emergency of if there is no other option but to obtain another top, please contact Andrew at the office. We are limited in sizes and numbers, but I'll do my best with what we have.

  • Tournaments are always great fun and we really like to get as many reports and photos for the website as possible. It doesn't matter if your team didn't win, we want to celebreate the efforts of all our teams. Please try and grab some snaps and see if someone on the team would like to volunteer to write a report of the weekend. If you are struggling to get a report together, don't stress, send me a list of your results and anything you would like included in a report, and I'll create an exciting little narrative for all to enjoy.

Good luck everyone and go Falcons!
