The Melbourne Tigers are pleased to announce a new partnership with Waverley Basketball Association.
One of the largest of its kind in Melbourne, the Waverley Basketball Association was formed in 1976 and has male and female teams participating at both junior and senior championship levels. The largest competition is Saturday juniors, currently catering for 21 different divisions across ages 8–18.
The WBA president Mike Bullock says this arrangement with the Melbourne Tigers will be great for basketball in assisting our great game to be out there in the community. It will also create a further development path for our players and coaches to progress. We look forward to a successful partnership with the NBL Tigers.
As part of the new partnership Waverley players, coaches and staff will have access to game day tickets, courtside seating and inner sanctum experiences on game day.
The partnership will also provide access to a Coaches Development Program where two coaches within the Waverley basketball Association will participate in all Tigers NBL coaching preparations for a week leading up to a Tigers home game followed by an on bench experience at the corresponding home game.
The Melbourne Tigers are committed to the long term success and sustainability of basketball in Victoria. This is the first step in building relationships that will assist in the participation of basketball at an elite level and provide a product that the basketball community and association partners can be proud of.
