THIS week’s match between the 11th and 12th team was a well-fought game from both sides that could have gone either way.
The Eagles came onto the court with their mind set on following up last week’s win but it was the higher-placed Falcons who finally snapped their five-match losing streak. Each time Waverley stepped up to take the lead, the Eagles fought to catch up, levelling the score seven times in total. Leanda Higgs earned herself MVP honours for the match, with 26 points that helped the Falcons seal the three-point win.
Although they only made one of their 12 three-point shots, the Falcons had the edge in the field goals (33 per cent) and free throws (73 per cent) that ultimately gave them the winning points.
