Youth Teams Entering Final Round

This weekend the Waverley Falcons Victorian Youth Championship teams will bring their 2013 regular seasons to a close.

Both teams are playing at home in the final round of action before finals, with the Men hoping to hold on to top spot, while the women will look to end their season on a positive note.

Under Head Coach Eric Minerve, the VYC Men have been very impressive in the new look league this season. Having wrapped up a finals spot some weeks ago, a win on Sunday will see the Falcons secure top spot in their conference, before the knock-out finals series begins next week. While no finals game is ever easy, the Falcons can lock in home court advantage for the finals and give themselves the best chance to be successful.

The VYC Women have had a tough season of sorts, however Head Coach Stephanie Groom and her core group have continued to work hard and the team have been extremely competitive over the back nine. It is a tough ask to finish the season for this group as they have a Double Header in the final round. Playing at home against finals bound Geelong on Saturday Night, before heading to Dandenong to take on the top of the table Rangers on Sunday.

The Falcons State Championship teams are both looking good after quality wins on the weekend. The Women got by Eltham in a thriller on Saturday Night to narrow the race for fourth place down to two teams, while the Men got the job done against Sherbrooke on Sunday. There are two rounds left in the regular season for the State Championship teams, with both teams away this week, and at home next week.
