Youth League 2 Men's Dominating Win

Waverley 134 dft Sunbury 71

ELIAS Polioyiannis and the Waverley Falcons sent a clear message to the league Saturday night with a dominant 134-71 win over Sunbury ahead of what promises to be a very competitive finals campaign.

Polioyiannis, who scored a season-high 36 points, continued a season-long streak of double-figure scoring games Saturday night. Playing without key facilitator Brad Kelleher, the Falcons barely missed a beat. Michael Dettmann (20 points), Dejan Kostur (20 points) and Andrew Kelly (18 points, nine rebounds) were all solid for the Falcons. A 56-31 rebounding advantage, coupled with 34 Jets turnovers illustrates Waverley’s all-around dominance.

For the Jets, Matt Smith scored 21 points and Tom Moon chipped in 17. With their season coming to an end Sunday against Sherbrooke, the Jets will be looking to cause an upset and end on a high.
