Falcons in National Junior Classic

Two junior Falcons teams have qualified for the National Junior Classic on Queen's Birthday long weekend.

The Classic is the pre-eminent Junior Basketball tournament in Australia with the highest ranked teams from Victoria, South Australia, ACT, New South Wales and Queensland all competing.

The Under 18 Boys and Under 18 Girls have both earned an invite to the tournament, where only 16 teams in each age group are included.

All the games for Under 16 and Under 18 teams are at Dandenong Basketball Stadium, Stud Road, Dandenong.

Waverley has a proud recent history at the Classic, with Gold Medals in both Under 16 Boys and Under 18 Boys on the resume. The Falcons first played in the Classic in 2004 when the Under 16s coached by Anthony Dimis qualified. The first girls team to play was the Under 18 Girls in 2010.

Both coaches, Eric Minerve with the boys and Elias Palioyiannis with the girls will have high hopes heading into the tournament, but also have the experience to understand it is a tough weekend where every game is of high quality and high intensity.
