Falcons Feature in Big V Rankings

The Big V has released it's first Big V Men's Championship MVP rankings of the season after five rounds of competition, and the Falcons are extremely well represented, with three players sitting inside the top 10, including Sedale Threatt Jnr in first place.

The Falcons Men have been travelling well to start the season, their status as perennial contenders sometimes means people take their good results for granted, but after an off season coaching change, a nasty injury to the starting small forward and a tough loss on the road on a night when they were undermanned, the Falcons are still up and around the top end of the ladder.

The Falcons Men will be at home this Sunday against Bulleen, Tip-Off at 2:30pm.

The Falcons Women also got some attention in the MVP rankings, with star WNBL recruit Bridgitte Ardossi and Falcons stalwart Tahlia Higgs each included in the top 10, the Falcons women enjoy a rare weekend off this week.

BIG V CHAMPIONSHIP MEN RANKINGS (www.bigv.com.au)

1. Sedale Threatt Jnr- No player in the competition is more important to his team than Sedale. He gets Ivan and Boyle touches, scores when required (which he’s done at an alarmingly efficient rate) and is un-guardable when he’s knocking down the jump shot. Saw a slight dip against the Broncos but he was only required for 23 minutes in their win over the Broncos.

7. Brad Kelleher- He’s part two of the devastating back court at Waverley and with a starting gig now his, Kelleher has grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Its not easy to put in 20 a game in a side that has so many scorers, but Kelleher is doing it well.

8. Ivan Platenik- We knew Platenik would be getting 20 and 10 once again this year, but the big knock on him is usually his defense. He’s blocking just over a shot a game so far this year.

7. Brigitte Ardossi- Her teams record hurts Ardossi a bit here in the rankings, but the arrival of Dombkins will help not only the wins column, but also free up the WNBL gun inside. Expect her 16 and 8 numbers to spike sooner rather than later.

10. Tahlia Higgs- A player with an unbelievable motor that is energy, energy, energy on both ends of the floor. 13 points and 5 boards a game is very good for a player that has only recently come up form their youth program at Waverley.
