Game of the Week for Round 7 lived up to its billing and proved a thrilling encounter with 2 points all that separated these two squads.
At third and fifth on the ladder respectively heading into this round, both squads had plenty to play for. The Broncos, who got out to an early 30-17 first quarter lead, continued to apply the pressure in the first half. Leading 77-55 at three quarter time, Hume City took the foot off the pedal and Waverly pounced. On the back of a 27-11 final quarter, the Falcons rallied but fell agonisingly short.
The Broncos were paced by Harun Kansak’s 25 points and 9 rebounds while Adam Mitchell chipped in 20 points and 12 rebounds of his own.
For the Falcons, Elias Polioyiannis had 17 points and 7 turnovers while Andrew Kelly had 13 points and 13 boards. Game of the Week for Round 8 has a lot to live up to.
