Latrobe City 95 dft Waverley 86

AFTER last-week’s 14-point victory over fourth-placed Sherbrooke, Latrobe City hosted a streaking Waverley Falcons side keen to make it 11 straight wins. The Energy, looking to again send a message to the league, used a 20-7 run to start the game to get that message across.
Leading every step of the way, the Energy, through the supreme play of Marc Goodwin, held the Falcons at bay and ran away to a critical nine-point win.
Goodwin, who scored 32 points, hit five-of-seven three-pointers, grabbed three boards and dished out three assists. With support from Daniel Boyce (19 points, 10 rebounds), Benjamin Bowman (16 points and Paul Joyce (18 rebounds), Latrobe City simultaneously snapped Waverley’s 10 game win-streak while extending their own to four.
For the Falcons, Bradley Kelleher was well held and managed only 10 points. Andrew Kelly (19 points), Elias Polioyiannis (15 points) and Aaron Stirtin (nine points, three assists) rounded out the game-high scorers.
With finals fast approaching, Latrobe City have well and truly shaken up the race to the title.
