The Waverley Basketball Association in conjunction with the WBRA wishes to advise that two new rules will take affect for the Summer 2012/2013 season.
These rules are effective from Sunday, October 7.
1) The three point line for all Senior, Under 18 and Under 16 domestic games will be the longer three point line. This is the official FIBA three point line used in NBL, SEABL, BIG V and International Competition. This line is painted white on all courts. (The shorter three point line will continue to be used for Under 8, Under 10, Under 12 and Under 14 competitions).
2) The Charge Cirlce shall be in effect in all WBA Domestic games. This is the small semi-circle under the ring, and is referred to as the 'No Charge Zone'. A charge shall not be called on an airborne player if the defender has both feet inside the the Charge Circle. (A grounded player can still be called for a charge in the circle, only airborne players are affected by the rule).
The following video gives an extensive explanation of the Charge Circle and its affect on games with numerous examples:

Please be patient with referees as they too become comfortable with calling games according to these new rules.
For more information please contact the office on 9807 9814 or the Referee Supervisor on the night when you play.
