THE fifth-placed Waverley travelled to Werribee on Saturday night ready to claim a victory against their tenth-placed competitor - and it was a comfortable 26-point win they took.
It was their execution which ensured the visitors the win, shooting at a respectable 48 per cent from the field opposed to Werribee’s 39 per cent combined with pulling-in 68 per cent of the boards.
With Ivan Platenik resuming his powerful performance from last round (26 points, 14 boards, four assists, two steal and two blocks), the Falcons were ready and able to snare the victory.
Platenik was given good assistance from team mates James Anderson (20 points at 73 per cent from the field, seven boards, four assists) and Simon Blennerhassett (17 points seven boards, three assists, two steals).
For the Devils, it was Curtis Small who led the charge, hitting five three points on his way to a game-high 29 points, Small also dished off four assists.
Small was helped out by tall-man Ingo Beaudet, who managed 13 points, eight boards and an impressive five blocks, while Dallas Wilson pitched in with 12 points and dished of four assists.

Waverley Falcons 112 dft Diamond Valley Eagles 96
DIAMOND Valley arrived at the Waverley Basketball Centre ready to repeat their Saturday night’s effort, but the home side were ready and waiting.
The Falcons held a 14-point led at the first break and use this as a buffer for the rest of the match.
It was their strength under the ring – pulling in 69 boards compared to the Eagles 47 – which gave them the edge.
It was an impressive display from last week’s player of the week Ivan Platenik (with a stellar 31 points and 22 boards) which helped the home side over the line.
Platenik was supported well by Brad Hill (26 points) and James Anderson (24 points, 11 boards).
For the visitors, it was Dane Steinke who managed a game-high bag of 32 points, whilst Tom Burns chipped in with 18.
