IN A thriller game of ball on Saturday night, second-placed Waverley held off the advances of Melbourne to snag a one-point victory.
 
In what could very well have been a finals prelude, the Tigers travelled to Waverley Basketball Stadium hoping to upset their second-placed opponent.
 
But it was the home side who managed to come up with the upset with Melbourne holding the lead at every break except the one which counted.
 
Julie Brookhouse headed the points tally for the Falcons, hitting a game-high 19, while Lil Keane and Larissa Anderson showed for with 18 points, and 14 points, 13 boards respectively.
 
For the Tigers it was Laura Thomas who bagged the most points with 15, whilst Chelsea Burns (13 points, seven boards, four assists) and Cara Angel (13 points, two steals, two assists) almost had the goods to produce the win.
