W.B.A staff honoured at Basketball Victoria awards

The Basketball Victoria awards night was held on Tuesday April 17 in Rowville.

Waverley Basketball Association were represented by a number of award winners, right across our association.

Receiving 15 year service awards were:

- Former State League referee and recent returnee to WBRA Vin Snell.

- Longtime WBRA Treasurer, current Referee Supervisor and A Grade referee Peter Denning.

- Sunday Doorkeeper and Canteen Supervisor June Stevens.

- Former Waverley Big V Women Assistant Coach, Former McKinnon Cougars Division 2 Women coach and Victorian Panel Referee Campbell Fraser.

Receiving a 25 years service award was:

- Longtime level 1A referee at Kilsyth and Waverley and former secretary of WBRA Ewald Van Laake.

Receiving 35 years servie awards were:

- Referee Max Fraser, who has refereed and coached at multiple levels since the early days of the Albert Park Basketball Stadium and continues to referee on Saturday morninings and Tuesdays.

And lastly, our Junior Domestic Covener Jan Dowler was recognised for her fantastic efforts over 35 years at club committee, compeititon committee, junior representative and administrative levels. Jan was an influential part of the Brentwood Blazers club during their golden years, was a coach in the Waverley Falcons program for many years as the club grew to what it is today, and continues to give to the sport as she managers the Waverley Junior Domestic Competition.
