Waverleys Daniel Dillon Makes AUS team

Waverley's Daniel Dillon has made the final cut as Basketball Australia announced the 12 players who will line up for the Golden Star Australian Boomers against China in game one of the YouYi Games series (Friday 24th June, Challenge Stadium in Perth), before heading to Singapore for Sunday’s second and final match-up.

Headlining the team are David Barlow and Luke Nevill along with Aron Baynes and Damien Martin.

A 16-man Golden Star Boomers squad has been put through its paces in Perth since Sunday afternoon, with the coaching staff, led by head coach Brett Brown, making the announcement following the final session on Thursday.

Coach Brown said that he is excited by the team that has been assembled from the squad.

“This is early days in our own calendar and I like the group that we are playing China with,” he said.

“You go through it all and scrimmage to try and create game-type environments, but there’s nothing like a game and guarding different people. You put the uniform on, put a few thousand people in the stands and the whole thing changes. That’s the benefit of going through the camp, and it’s the final exam, and the exciting part.”

Friday night's game tips off at 8pm (local time). Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com.au.
