Falcons Championship Womens Double Weekend

Hume City Lady Broncos 87 dft Falcons 74
IT WAS game one of two over-time thrillers for round 11, but it was the home side who managed to produce the goods in the extra five minutes on the floor.

Both teams were credited with a team game, with multiple double-figure scorers at the Broadmeadows Basketball Stadium on Saturday night.

Some sharp shooting from the Bronco’s Lauren Bennett, with a clutch three-pointer took the game into overtime and enable the home side to come away with the win.

Larissa Anderson had a solid game for the Falcons, posting 19 points and pulling in 13 boards, while Julie Brookhouse and Lilli Keane showed presence with 14 points apiece.

Kathleen MacLeod showed her leadership and experience on the floor to post 13 points for Waverley and dish off eight assists.

For Hume City, Naomi Pedro headlined with a game-high 20 points and 11 boards and was offered solid support from Sharin Millner (15 points) Belinda Campbell (14 points) and Lauren Bennett (13 points).

Waverley coach Matt Dickens said his side was unlucky to come up with the win.

“It’s always amazing how much the little things make,’’ Dickens said.

Hume City coach Glen Milner said the game was a great contest between two quality teams.

“The supporters got great value of money,” Milner said.
