NBL1 & BigV Falcons

The White Fit

The Waverley Falcons have begun their 2011 State Championship Women campaign with the signing of rookie Big V coach Bianca White.
White, a former player for Sandringham’s SEABL squad as well as a junior coach for the Sabres is ready to dive right into her first season as a senior coach. “It’s good getting to know the team, they are a great bunch of girls and I’m very excited to be coaching”.
Coach White will be looking to build on the attributes that she exhibited as a former captain with defense and communication. “I’m more of a defensive coach than anything. If you work hard and work together, the rewards will come.”
I’m just looking to come in and sharpen up their skills, fine tune them, provide them with some more depth in how they play, individually and as a team.”
After the Falcons have had a few second placed finishes in a row, and with Eltham stocking up on a series of superstars, White was pumped for the potential matchup rather than intimidated.
“It’s been a while since WNBL players have played Big V, it shows the resurgence of the league that some are choosing to play here and it’s great news for the league.”
“I think our team is going to matchup really well against Eltham, we have nothing to lose and I’m really excited about the challenge”.
Further to the brewing clash with Eltham in 2011, White released to the Big V league office that they have signed a New Zealander by the name of Georgie Richards. Richards (21) has been playing for the Canterbury Wildcats in the New Zealand league and is also in the New Zealand national squad, the Tall Ferns.
The 180cm forward will look to get the Falcons over the hump that has denied them a championship in recent years, something that White will be looking to change. “We will be looking to win the championship this year” was the quote from a coach that has a big season ahead of her.
