Kevin Benn takes on Big V's Big 10

NAME: Kevin Benn
CLUB: Waverley Falcons
DIVISION: Championship
JUNIOR CLUB: Georgia College and State University

1) How did you rate your 2010 season for both yourself and your team?
KB: As an individual I consider myself the most improved player in the league to come off the bench. Considering my improvements stat wise, executive my role and the energy I bring helps with my overall teams are down process. As for my team, it is self explanatory- 2010 State Champions!

2) What are your plans for the 2011 season?
To win another Championship with the Waverley Falcons

3) What are your goals for the 2011 season?
My goal is to become the most improved player in the league. Improve my perimeter defense and overall scoring ability and midrange so I have a lot of work to do. I want to improve my strength and overall fitness.

4) Thoughts on how Big V as a league was in 2010?
Last year was a progression because we had more teams come up from the lower divisions. It's good to see new talent and clubs involved because it gives our league a better definitioin. I think as the years continue the league will only get better with the right people behind it.

5) Have you heard any good rumors about player movement across the league for 2011?
The rumor of Tommy Greer stepping to the Eltham Wildcats is no longer a rumor. But we have a few more outstanding talents to look forward to as well. Guess we'll have to wait and see what else is to come!

6) How (if at all!) do you keep in shape in the off-season?
Maintain a healthy stable diet. So far I've lost at least 5 kilos during the offseason. I attend boot camps and receive personal training assistance for m selected days of the week. I play basketball up to 6 times per week.

7) Have you started pre-season training yet? If so, what have you been doing? If not, when do you start?
I have actually started my pre-season training two months ago. Our team workouts have consisted of sessions that have been improving our team chemistry and we are having a lot of fun with it.

8) If you could recruit one player from anywhere in the world to your team for 2011 who would it be and why?
A shot blocking centre would be good for any team. I would recruit Joel Anthony. He played at Pensacola Junior College with me back in 2002. He now plays with the Miami Heat. He is a tremendous shot blocker/dunk in your face type of guy. His defense is compared to the all time greats forwards and centres in NBA and he runs the floor like a gazelle.

9) What song gets played most on your ipod?
Everybody likes to listen to Tupac but I love my man Young Jeezy "Stay Grinding".

10) What is your favourite quote in life?
My favourite quote in life would be "It all starts with self motivation- in order to be successful you must have a vision. Then execute that vision into reality".
