The stats that matter:
Ringwood has won its last four games by an average of 27pts, and in that time three of those games have been against top-four opposition, while in two of those games Daryl Corletto has been abroad. The Hawks have seven players shooting at 45 per cent or better, while Kevin Ratzsch delivers at a whopping 58 per cent. Matt Snowball has dished up a division-high 113 assists. The closest Waverley has got to Ringwood in three games this season was in round 17 when they lost by 10pts. Previous to that the Falcons lost by 22pts and 24pts. The Falcons have just three players going at 45 per cent or better, including Ivan Platenik who has been to the foul line an amazing 193 times this season. However, Platenik has not topped his season average of 24pts in a game since his round 16 clash with Sherbrooke.
From the coaches:
Ken Harrington- Ringwood Hawks
Tip: Ringwood 2-0
Player to watch: Plenty. Obviously Platenik but Blennerhassett is an important player for them and if he plays well they will be in the game.
Final thoughts: First game is really important, if they get the home game, that’ll give them two chances to beat us at home, but if we beat them away, we get 2 shots at home and we like our chances. They showed a lot of heart against DV and will be confident.
Eric Minerve- Waverley Falcons
Tip: Ringwood 2-0
Player to watch: We have to contain everyone. McMillan is tough in 5 spot, Corletto tough in 2 spot and Ratzsch is tough in the 3 spot. They have quality role players that know their spot.
Final thoughts: Ringwood have proven to be #1 all season and showed that against Hume. They have three of the top players in the league. We are happy to be in the Grand Final and aware of how tough they are.
