Youth League Women
Waverley 55 defeated Geelong 53
The Falcons would have been feeling relatively confident about keeping their impressive streak intact this afternoon, facing the debutants Geelong Cats on the road, and at the half, were sitting pretty with a 17 point buffer. The second half could not have been more of a contrast, and as the Cats upped their defensive intensity, Waverley’s shooting percentage dropped into the 20’s. Fast forward to 17 seconds on the clock, and after an ill-timed turnover, a time-out was charged to the Falcons. An intense few seconds resulted in a steal, a shot attempt and a mammoth rebound and put back by Waverley’s Taylor Dickinson (1 of her 10 for the game) to grab the W and avoid overtime.
