Falcons defeat Wildcats

ROUND 4 WEEKEND WRAP

State Championship Men
Waverley 92 defeated Eltham 72
The Falcons have recovered from a disappointing outing last week to comfortably put away the Eltham Wildcats by 20 points. As usual, Ivan Platenik did whatever he wanted to offensively as he put in a cool 23 points and 16 boards.
Eltham tried to shoot their way from deep to get by the tough Falcons D, but ultimately couldn’t get much to go, hitting on only 6/30 from three point land.

State Championship Women
Waverley 69 defeated Eltham 63
In a game where neither team could get things going offensively, the Falcons have overcome the Eltham Wildcats for their fourth consecutive victory.
Zoe Carr willed herself on the contest with 19 points of her own, but it wasn’t enough to curb Waverley’s spread offense, despite March’s player of the month Laura Thomas having a quiet night.

Youth League 1 Men
Waverley 73 defeated Eltham 57
Waverley also bounced back from a loss the night before and led by their star player Dexter Kernich-Drew with 23 points and 8 boards were too strong for a gallant Eltham team. It was a close game throughout and heading into the last period the Wildcats only trailed by 6 points, but shooting a decent 50% the Falcons were able to soar away with the win, their 3rd for the season.

Youth League Women
Waverley 67 defeated Eltham 54
With second placed Eltham (3-1) hosting sixth placed Waverley (1-2) who were coming off a tough game the night before, you may well have been surprised to read this result. But make no mistake. On the back of a Rizkallah 15 point outing, Waverley rode this “W” all the way home. Kudos to Eltham’s Braybon finishing with 17 points and 6 boards.
