Waverley 99 defeated Melbourne 93
Melbourne had control of a very good game through to the 3rd quarter. In the 4th quarter Melbourne were pushed out of their offence by good pressure on Waverley’s side. Consistent shooting by Dexter Kernich Drew (46 points) saw Waverley draw ever closer in the last quarter, putting the game into overtime. At the end of overtime the scores were once again even, forcing a second period. With both teams on their last legs, it was Waverley who held their nerve to post an opening night W.
