The U12.2 Boys team had a very thrilling weekend of basketball at the 2010 Eltham Dandenong Tournament resulting in a Grand Final victory. They only just scraped over the line into 4^th place on the ladder after the last games were played on Saturday night. In a very close game, they won the Semi Final against the top unbeaten team, Werribee 3, by 2 points in the dying minutes of the game. In the Grand Final, the U12’s faced the team that had thrashed them earlier in the tournament but Waverley 2 started with a quick succession of baskets that gave them a convincing lead at half time. Despite the strong recovery by Vikings 2, Waverley held on to the end winning 18 to 15.

  

Congratulations to the winning team of Trent Scarton, Ben Crowe, Ben Byrnes, Thomas Mitchell, Hector Ryan, Zachary Kourambas, Hugh Flanagan and Spencer Spielvogel. There were many fine individual performances and some great team play.

 

Thanks to Marcus Embury for coaching the boys throughout the tournament and helping them achieve the final victory. Marcus has helped the boys all achieve a lot in a short time and, if this tournament in any indication, we can expect a fantastic year of basketball.
