YLM 2 Big Back to Back Wins

Waverley 95 dft Bendigo 87
Game of the Week for Round 10 lived up to the billing and provided a great spectacle for those in attendance, as the match-up between first-placed Bendigo and third-placed Waverly went down to the wire.
Bendigo, who suffered the upset of the round in a 6 point loss to Keilor, came into this game as favourites but trailed 35-52 at halftime. The third quarter saw the Braves outscore the Falcons 31-21 and trail by only 7 heading into the final 12 minutes. But Waverly, led by 30 points from Brad Kelleher, held the Braves at arms length and handed Bendigo their second straight loss and third of the year.
Andrew Kelly, who dominated the glass to the tune of 24 rebounds, had a ridiculous 14 offensive boards to go with his 14 points. For the Braves, their third loss of the season came despite 29 points and 9 three’s for Ben Caruana. With two losses over the weekend, Bendigo’s dominant season just took a serious hit and the run to the title is now as open as ever.
Game MVP: Multiple

Waverley 94 dft Chelsea 77
Waverly, who came into this game as clear favourites over last-placed Chelsea, were a step ahead of the Gulls all night and cruised to a 17 point win.
Chelsea, who are 1-12 on the season now, showed glimpses of the brand of basketball that they can surely build on as the season progresses. A second quarter performance, where Chelsea outscored the Falcons 29-17, displayed that the Gulls are capable when they put it all together. Lloyd Marshall’s 30 points were a highlight for the Gulls.
Brad Kelleher, who had a great night 23 points, 15 assists and 6 rebounds, led a balanced Waverly attack which also featured 19 points from Andrew Kelly and 17 from Elias Polioyiannis.
Game MVP: Brad Kelleher (Waverly)
