Please find below the WBA Heat Policy
Competition will be played and all business is as usual.
The safety of players can be maintained with a common sense approach. Coaches can amend the training program to ensure it is not too intense. Parents should ensure players have adequate water available before, during and after training. Players should bring extra water bottles, drink regularly and rest if they become too fatigued.
The Waverley Stadium is fitted with air coolers that keep the building approximately 6 - 10 degrees cooler than the outside temperature. The building is also fitted with air vents and grates surrounding every single court.
Due to the amount of air vents, the laser light skylights and normal lights all acting as ‘heaters’, the coolers work well but do battle with these elements at the same time so therefore, we cannot drop the inside temperature below 10 degrees cooler on extreme days. Last year during the 40 degrees day we unfortunately went up to 33 inside, however during a 35 degree day during November, the current recording states we only reached 28 inside. We have thermometers installed on two separate courts, and monitor and record the heat through the display in the canteen per guidelines from Basketball Australia.
Please read carefully the heat policy listed below and make it available to all players. Furthermore, please ensure you are adequately hydrated.
