After a rigorous selection process the Executive of the Big V are pleased to announce the appointment of Raelene Whitten to the position of Chief Executive Officer.
Raelene has a long history in the sport both as a volunteer and most recently as a senior staff member at Knox Basketball, during a period when it was gathering recognition as one of the best administrations in the country.
She is a three time recipient of League administration awards at both Kilsyth and Knox Associations. Most recently she has been working in a project and event management role at a large not-for-profit community based organisation.
According to League Chairman Darryl Neal, “Raelene has come through an exhaustive selection process and I am confident we have secured a candidate that will serve the needs of our clubs, both now and into the coming years".
“She brings strong administrative skills into the position and has a flair for creative thinking that will continue to see the League at the forefront of the sport in the country."
Raelene is very excited about her return to the sport that has been her passion for more than twenty years.
“I’ve been a player, coach at domestic and rep level, volunteer in many different roles and a full time administrator and have come into the position with a broad perspective of the needs of our clubs,” she said. “I'm looking forward to working with the Board and our clubs to make this the best league it can be and to continue to provide opportunities for the development of players, coaches, officials and volunteers.”
Raelene will take up the position on 31 August.
