Last week she had back-to-back monster games, this week she secured back-to-back Player Of The Week honours. Julie Brookhouse has made her coaches very happy people the last few weeks as she hits startling form ahead of a finals campaign.
This week she went four of four from the three point line and seven of 10 from the field to finish the game the highest scorer with 21 in a huge battle-for-second match-up against Bulleen.
She laid off seven assists, was perfect from the stripe, and helped her Waverley Falcons cap off a great regular season, where they now sit in second spot, and can start giving some thought to how they’re going to bring down the league-leading Broncos.
“Julie Brookhouse had an absolute blinder,” said Bullen Boomers Head Coach, Luce Shepherd. “No matter what pressure we applied, we couldn’t stop her and she dominated both the offensive and defensive ends.”
“She had a tough defensive game, showed strong leadership and capped it off with 21 points and seven assists,” added Falcons Head Coach, Mark Chivers.
Before they get there though, they will have to account for Bulleen a few more times, which means putting up more big numbers and doing defensive jobs on the likes of Lisa Pardon and Candice Rogers.
She finishes off a solid season where she's averaged 13.9 ppg at 46.9 per cent from the field, 4.5 boards and 2.8 assists per game. But in her last four games, she’s averaged just under 21 and picked up a couple of POTW awards: the warning has officially been put out.
