If a team ever needed a night off training it’s the Waverley Falcons this week. Three wins from three games is not a rarity in the Big V, but how many teams can say they’ve done that in a single round?
The top-of-the-table Waverley Falcons in the YLW division had to endure a Monday night clash after a tough double-header due to scheduling changes, and they rose to the occasion and got wins in all three.
For the rest of the league, no one could question the team’s ability to get the wins this year, and now they’ve sent the message that they have championship winning stamina as well – look out competition.
Saturday night, they put away Hawthorn by 21 on the road, belted the Hawks by 50 out at Ringwood, and handled Bulleen by 21 at home. Tahlia Higgs had 14 points, 12 points and 13 points for the weekend, Caitlin Hindle was solid with 11, 11 and eight, and Jesse McPherson had 12 points and five rebounds on Saturday, eight points and 14 boards on Sunday and six points and 12 boards on Monday in a super effort.
Now sitting atop the league ladder on 16 and one, the team has been given a little extra boost in confidence, something the other clubs won’t want to hear with finals two weeks away.
