The Waverley Basketball Association is both shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our Vice President of 35 years Leo Kingston last Saturday due to unexpected medical complications. Leo is one of several people who were instrumental in the planning and building of the Waverley Basketball Centre.
Leo was a man who was very proud of Australia and was certainly one of the finest men I have met in my life time. He had so many attributes. Always there if you needed help or advice and would say it strong and fair. He was a tireless worker for Waverley over 35 years. He loved Carol and his children so much and in recent years would talk to me of his grandchildren on many occasions.
Leo was an Icon of Waverley. Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Manager, driving players to games, Vice President, Canteen Manager, and so many other projects he took on. Our many visits to Adelaide Tournaments were always a highlight with Leo doing all the arrangements. So many young men learnt from Leo how to keep to your word and be genuine, generous and kind.
He will be missed so much but Waverley Basketball Association will now rename Court 4 to the LEO KINGSTON COURT which will be on full wall display. This was his favorite court.
A final note from me to Leo is that I love you mate and will never forget your friendship.
