Return to Sport Update – 7 December

Basketball Victoria is pleased to announce further easing of restrictions regarding indoor basketball for participants and spectators across Victoria following the Premier’s announcement on Sunday 6 December.

Announced as part of the Victorian Government’s move to “CovidSafe Summer”, further information on how this affects sport and leisure is also available via the Sport and Recreation Victoria website.

Basketball Victoria has made the following updates in line with our Return to Sport Guidelines based on DHHS Restricted Activity Directions, effective as of Sunday 6 December at 11.59pm.

Basketball associations and clubs can operate under the COVID-Safe (previously known as Green-100) category of Basketball Victoria’s Return to Sport Guidelines, subject to the following:

• Activities permitted at this level must follow a 1 person per 4 square metre density quotient, social distancing rules apply.

• Signage must state the number of people permitted inside

• Wipes, sanitiser / disinfectant must be supplied for use by patrons

• Attendance record keeping is required (QR codes are highly encouraged)

• Venues with capacity of greater than 500 patrons must publish a COVID-Safe Plan online.

• Face masks are not required for players, referees and coaches during games.

• Masks are recommended for all others in attendance.
