Return to Training: Outdoor Activity

 Hi Waverley Members,

 We hope you have all been staying safe and well during this time away from basketball.

On Tuesday, the Victorian Government announced the gradual easing of restrictions. We are sure you are all happy and excited with these announcements, in particular, the ability for groups of up to 10 people to participate in outdoor activities.

WBA will not be organising any official trainings at this time. However, if your team wishes to organise their own outdoor training, please follow the below guidelines developed by the State Government for the resumption of sport and exercise;

-          Practice social distancing whilst performing the activity (1.5 metres apart)

-          These activities are not indoors

-          The activities are not competitive in nature and are non-contact

-          A maximum of 10 people take part

-          1 coach and 1 support personnel may attend (total of 12 people all together)

Coaches please respect families wishes if they do not wish to participate in group training sessions. Plan your sessions with the purpose of player health, wellbeing, fitness and conditioning.

Further details can be found at DHHS here.

The full BV announcement can be found here.

WBA are working closely with Basketball Victoria as we look into future options for indoor training and competitions, in line with the State Government decisions, as they lift restrictions further.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience and respect for the rules thus far. Please continue to follow community guidelines as we work towards the return of basketball.

Stay safe and enjoy your time outdoors.

Regards,

WBA
