Falcons granted licence for new league

The Waverley Falcons Senior Men and Women will be competing in an elite new league in 2019.

Basketball Victoria announced which clubs had secured licenses to be part of the new league, which combines teams from the SEABL competition with four of the most consistent performers in BIg V State Championship.

Moving to the new league from Big V alongside the Falcons will be Ringwood, Eltham and Knox.

The new league will see the Falcons go up against some of Australia's biggest and most powerful clubs, inlcuding the likes of Nunawading, Kilsyth, Hobart and Geelong.

The historic change allows Waverley Basketball Association to provide a pathway for players from their very first game of junior basketball right through to the highest level of the sport in the country outside the NBL.

All Falcons Senior teams have commenced their pre-season with a heavy workload in place to be ready for the groundbreaking new season in April 2019.
