Champ Men bow out, Champ Women another chance and Youth Men go up 1-0

A thrilling one-point win by the Falcons Youth League men provided the highlight of a weekend where both State Championship teams went down.

Playing in front of a huge crowd on Saturday Night, the Falcons took the ascendency in the best of three Grand Final series against Sunbury with a heartstopping 67-66 win, dodging a couple of near misses with the Jets almost stealing the win on the final play.

The narrow win puts the Falcons in the box seat in the series, with two chances to seal the deal at Sunbury this weekend. It won't be easy, the Jets haven't dropped a home game all season, but te Falcons have given themselves every chance.

The news wasn't so good for the Falcons State Championship teams, who each fell short in their finals games. The news isn't all bad for the Falcons Women, who get another chance this week due to their second-placed finish after the regular season. The Falcons will host an elimination final against the Southern Peninsula Sharks this Sunday at 2pm.

The curtains were drawn on the Men's season however, dropping their elimination final to the McKinnon Cougars. The Falcons faught gamely, nearly erasing a 20-point deficit in the second half, however ultimately the shots just wouldn't drop when they most needed them to, and the 2018 campaign came to an end.

With one team just a stone's throw away from Grand Final success and another still with a chance to stay in the running, there is still plenty for Falcons fans to be excited about as a race towards the end of the 2018 Big V season.
