Youth League Women Home and Away Games

Waverley Falcons Youth League Women side also had a double weekend of games starting with a home game at Waverley and finishing with an away game at Eltham.

Waverly 47 dft Dandenong 45
In a match-up between seventh and ninth on the table, the Waverly Falcons played host to the Dandenong Rangers. With both sides currently outside the top six, there was plenty to play for. As the final margin indicates, there was nothing in it at the end, with Waverly scraping through for a 2 point win.
With 12 lead changes, only 2 points separated these teams after the first and third quarters. Game MVP Caitlin Hindle top scored for the Falcons with 15 in a low-scoring affair, while Tarryn Ring threw in 12 for the visitors.
Waverly Coach Alan Rumble, evidently happy to have snuck away with the win, said after the game, “winning is so much better than losing”.

Eltham 72 dft Waverly 54
With a convincing 18 point win over Waverly on Sunday afternoon, the Eltham Wildcats again proved hard to beat at home this season, where the girls are an impressive 5 from 6.
Carly Simons put up arguably the most impressive line of the round on Sunday posting 18 points, 17 rebounds and 3 blocks in an intimidating inside performance. Simons was supported well by her team-mates as their superior depth proved the difference in this contest.
For the Falcons, poor shooting percentages and lack of rebounding proved costly as the Wildcats took a 58-31 rebounding advantage. Caitlin Hindle provided her second strong game of the round for the Falcons but, unlike Saturday, it wasn’t enough to get the girls over the line.
