The Waverley Falcons Big V State Championship Men are within one game of the Grand Final.
After a last gasp win the week before against McKinnon, the Falcons had no need for late game heroics after a stunning opening propelled them to a 25 point win over Knox.
Although the absence of Raiders big man Matt Hodgson weakened Knox's inside game, it was a combination of stifling perimiter defence and red-hot offence that did the damage for the Falcons.
Star import Desmond Simmons was seeing the hoop like the Pacific Ocean as he drilled three after three early on, while Michael Harper did the defensive job on newly signed Sydney King Adam Thoseby, who has been electric for Knox this season.
The comfortable win took some of the stress away for the Falcons as they turned their attention towards Game 2 at Knox this Saturday Night. The Raiders will be working tirelessly throughout week to make the necessary adjustments and try to send the series into a deciding game on Sunday.
TOMORROW: How did the Falcons Women fare at Bulleen as that series moves home to the Falcon Nest this week? We'll tell you right here.
