An Ivan Platenik buzzer beater has lifted the Falcons over Knox in a battle of two of the State Championship Men heavyweights.
The Raiders came into the game atop the SCM ladder, the Falcons having inflicted their only lost earlier this season at the nest. This one was an arm wrestle throughout, with Platenik's last second jump shot silencing the Knox crowd and putting the league on notice of the Falcons' top two aspirations.
In the earlier game, the Falcons women fell short against the ladder leading Raiders despite playing three good quarters. The Falcons women continue to be right in the mix for a playoff spot as we enter the final stretch of the season.
The Falcons champ teams are on the road again this week as they head to Mill Park to face the Whittlesea Pacers.
The Youth teams gave us some positive performances on the weekend. The Falcons girls took it right to the Eltham WIldcats on Saturday Night, recovering a double-figure defecit before nearly stealing the game in the final stages, eventually going down by seven. The next day's game against top team Ringwood was a tough day for the girls, but the positive signs are there.
The youth men enjoyed a great win, putting together a near season-best performance in their wire to wire victory against Sandringham. They will grace the home floor at the nest against this Saturday Night against Nunawading, at 8:15pm.
