The Falcons Nest came alive Friday night with the Waverley Senior and Junior Presentation Evening. The annual event is like no other, and for the 400 strong crowd there was a lot to celebrate for the 2008 season!
“The show must go on” said Shane from the office who after an initial power hiccup was pleased with the event. The response from the audience was very positive and there are a lot of people behind the scenes who worked hard to ensure everybody had a pleasurable evening. The social however, didn’t quite turn out as planned with many guests leaving as soon as it started. We had some live entertainment, movies and slide shows to break up the trophy presentations.
President and General Manager Mike Bullock announced some future developments at Waverley, while 2009 Coaching Director Matthew Shanahan spoke about the link and improvement being implemented between Junior and Senior Falcons. Two new awards for ‘Coach of the Year’ and ‘Player of the Year’ were introduced and awarded to Anthony Dimis and Alex Fejer from the 16.1 Boys. The Victorian Championship 16.1 team was also recognized for their winning season with plaques for each member.
Thank you to our MC for the night, Chris Taylor. Thank you also to Leila Boahene for her efforts in the club room and the bar along with Lynne Smith. Furthermore, thanks to Sam Ioannidis who supplied the liquor from his business, 'Liquor Corp - 9850 8144.'
Another Thank You goes to the volunteers who at last moment assisted us with the show including Judy Westmore, Cassandra Benevides, Fau-zii Chan and Ji Tran, and Jack Carrol from the U/18.3 boy’s team who created all the powerpoint slide shows during the week.
Waverley looks forward to an exiting 2009 season, and appreciates all your support and involvement with our wonderful club.
