Falcons set the pace in big home weekend

The Falcons weren't exactly empty nesters on the weekend, with all four Big V teams gracing the home floor, including an unprecedented Triple Header on Sunday.

While the Youth teams fought gamely before falling short in their games, the Championship teams saluted in their games against Whittlesea.

The Saturday Night game saw the Falcons Youth Women take it right to last season's champions Knox, right in the mix for the whole game but on the wrong side of the ledger at full time.

The Sunday triple treat got started with the Youth Men at the unusual time of 10:30am, and the early start might have been evident in the Falcons early struggles against Diamond Valley. The boys refused to let it get too far away from the however, breaking even over most of the last three quarters.

The stage was then set for the Championship Men and Women to entertain the Whittlesea Pacers. It was the Falcons setting the pace in both games, with both teams enjoying a winning end to the weekend. The hard work continues for the Falcons but wins in the early stage of the season are worth the same as wins at the end when finals spots are up for grabs.

It's a quieter weekend around the Nest this week with just one game. The Championship Women take on the Bulleen Boomers on Sunday, April 24 at 2pm. With no Junior Domestic in this weekend due to ANZAC Day, what better time to get down to the Nest and check out the great standard of Big V Basketball.
