Saturday, December 19 is scheduled to be a hot one.
WBA still plans to run Junior Domestic games, in line with the following Basketball Victoria directives:
- - All heat-related decisions are made by Referee / Venue Supervisors based on the court temperature. All venues are fitted with digital thermometers and supervisors observe and record the inside temperature every 15 minutes on hot days.
- - When the court temperature is between 30 and 35 degrees, Heat Rules may be implemented at the discretion of the supervisor.
- - When the court temperature exceeds 35 degrees, Heat Rules must be implemented, if they haven’t already.
- - Games will be abandoned if the court temperature reaches 40 degrees.
We will have a cool room set up at the stadium. We have done this in the past and it has proved a good initiative. The WBA Club Room will be a designated ‘cool off’ area for those suffering from symptoms of Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stress. There will be air conditioning, spray bottles and water available here.
To ensure the facilities and resources in this room are available in appropriate condition for those who genuinely require them, this room is not available for the general public to sit and watch games, or for coaches to bring their teams in for a pre/post game chat. Use of the room will be monitored closely and anyone in room who shouldn’t be will be asked to leave.
