18.1 Boys VIC CHAMPIONSHIP GRAND FINAL

18.1 Boys VIC CHAMPIONSHIP GRAND FINAL

Waverley vs Nunawading
Friday 19th September, 9.30pm at DANDENONG

The U/18-1 boys have had a tough year with a new core bunch of players its taken some time to get everyone on the same page along with some injuries to key players which has impacted our overall performance all year and still we have been able to achieve a fantastic 15-3 regular season record.  We have been running a long distance race and are now rapidly nearing the finish line.  The boys showed great character once gain on Friday sticking together to overcome a Sandringham team who were the u12,u14 & u16 State Champions with 3 State players and soon to be number 1 AFL draft pick.  By winning they have avoided elimination and advanced to the Vic Championship State Grand Final.

We play Nunawading on Friday who have 3 state players and a coach who has won three consecutive u18 VC Grand Finals.  We have played them twice over the course of the year and both times we have loss by single figure margins.  The game shall pose a tough challenge as they have a lot of size, athleticism and depth.

Having said that we have a crack at them and once again in finals situations anything can happen.  We are very proud of all our boys with the effort that they have all put in throughout the course of the year and, we are grateful to have the opportunity to play one more week of basketball and we are simply once again going to give it everything we've got by enjoying the moment and hopefully winning a championship in the process.

The Waverley Falcons would love to see some green and gold support this Friday night at Dandenong Stadium!  We purposely made our presentation night the following week as we knew it was going to be an entertaining event with a number of Falcon teams in finals.  There are also other Falcon teams in at Dandenong on the same night including the U/16-1 VC Boys who play at 8.30pm prior to the U/18's.
