Waverley Falcons U14-1 Girls in Grand Final
At a pre birthday cake get together after training last night Chris Taylor (Assistant Coach) asked Codie what she wanted for her birthday she replied “For us to win the Grand Final on Friday” .
The under 14 Girls have made the Grand Final after beating Blackburn in a nail biter at Mornington last Friday night. Waverley got on top early but Blackburn whittled away and with 30 seconds to go were three points up. Prue threw a three pointer and it was into extra time. The Waverley girls took the chance offered and then went on to run out winners 53 to 47. Iffi played her game of the year and was in everything strong in defense and then going forward to pass to Selini. Another great game from Selini who worked hard against two big opponents all night. Prue was in everything and had the ball on a string. Beth and Mel did well and Zali came in with a cameo three goals. All the other girls contributed throughout the game. Trevor summed it up tonight when he said “The girls came of age in the last five minutes last Friday night” Now it is off to Dandenong on Friday to take on Knox 3 in the Grand Final.
