Falcons Fall in Last Second Thriller

Lightning didn't strike twice.

Two weeks ago the Falcons stole the game against the Corio Bay Stingrays thanks to a Brad Kelleher buzzer beating three. In their preliminary final on Saturday Night, Kelleher's game tying three point effort fell agonisingly short as the Falcons fell to the Stingrays at Geelong.

The two teams had a penchant for close games and this one was no exception. The lead went back and forth and the Falcons hung tough in the contest when the Stingrays at times looked like pulling away. A tense last few minutes left the Falcons with one more chance to send the game to an extra session, but in the end a three point loss left the Falcons one game away from the Grand Final.

It was a devastating end for the Falcons Big V campaign in 2015, after the State Championship Women also lost in a game that went to the last shot the week before.

In a low scoring affair, the Falcons were led by Chris Arkell (18 points), Ivan Platenik (17 points) and Chris Cameron (14 points), while Point Guard Sedale Threatt dropped a cool nine assists.

This week we'll be doing our season reports for our four Big V teams, so keep an eye out for them on the website.
