The Falcons State Championship Men have moved within just one game of the Grand Final following a commanding 89-64 win over the Bulleen Boomers at the Falcon Nest on Sunday.
In front of a big Falcons Crowd, the boys held a modest lead through the first three quarters before breaking the game wide open in the fourth.
Leading the way for the Falcons was Sedale Threatt Jnr., who was definitely had his finals persona going on, dominating both ends of the floor to finish with 19 points (at a scarily efficient 6/8 from the field), 10 rebounds and seven assists. Chris Arkell had his shot on target, knocking down four triples in his 18 point haul, while Ivan Platenik and Tom Boylewere very good with 13 and 12 points respectively.
The Falcons have a big task ahead of them this week, heading down to Geelong to take on the Corio Bay Stingrays. The Falcons beat the Stingrays on the buzzer just last week, and it will take a massive effort to come away with the win this week and earn a spot in the Grand Final.
Meanwhile... The Falcons Women nearly pulled off the most miraculous of comebacks in their away Elimination Final against Bulleen, however they fell agonisingly short, going down by two points.
The Falcons trailed by as much as 25 points in the third quarter before they brought the rain all over East Doncaster Secondary. A wild final three minutes featured a virtuoso perfmance from Carly Mijovic, and the Falcons nearly completed the comeback, but it was not to be on this occasion.
The Falcons women have made finals each of the last three seasons and will take some time off before the firls gear up for another tilt at the flag in 2016.
